A Sample of what past clients are saying about Alaska Mountain Guides and Mountain Guides International:

Actually my Kilimanjaro trip was one of the best organized, planned, executed and coordinated trips I have been on.
-Marcell J.

Alex was an excellent guide! He was very friendly, responsible, passionate about his job and the Khumbu region of Nepal. He taught me a lot because I had not been trekking before. Tirtha our sherpa was excellent He is the sweetest, gentlest man I have ever met.
– Alyssa H.

I just wanted to drop a note on behalf of my wife and myself in regards to our recent climbing trip to Bolivia with MGI . The trip was outstanding, from the activities, acclimatization schedule, mountains, routes, and especially the dedicated work of our guide, Caleb Smith. Caleb did a marvelous job and made the trip one to remember. His guiding style was exactly what we were looking for and he allowed us to participate in the climbs to our abilities. The trip has certainly inspired us to push our limits in the mountains and look toward bigger and more difficult challenges. This trip was an excellent opportunity for us to grow and learn as mountaineers and is certainly a great step up from easier routes and mountains. It gave us the chance to gain experience at higher altitudes on more difficult routes…It should certainly be on the to-do list of every weekend warrior looking to up the ante in the mountains…we’re already thinking about more climbs in the Bolivian Andes as a result!
Again, I just wanted to submit my endorsement of both this trip and Caleb as world class! Thanks again for a great experience!!

My Glacier Bay Sea Kayaking trip ran very smoothly and was well organized. Sarah is an excellent leader and showed honest concern for all members of our group. Her extensive wilderness knowledge and instruction made us feel at ease and safe in the national park. We saw loads of harbor seals, bald eagles, puffins etc… what a wonderful way to see wilderness in a peaceful environment.

I wanted to thank you and the [Mountain Guides International] team for a great trip to Aconcagua. You and your staff were extremely helpful in preparing for and coordinating the details of Sean’s and my trip, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend MGI to others. In particular, I want to recognize the excellent guiding service provided by Brian Rougeux and Mike King. Their personalities, mountaineering knowledge and handling of trip details before, during and after our climb were exemplary. They are the type of guides that will continue to give MGI its excellent reputation. Most importantly, I was able to leave my son at 20,500′ with Brian Rougeux, as both he and Sean headed for the summit, knowing that my son’s safety was in very good hands. In watching other climbing groups and guides during our climb, it is very clear that the guides are the single most important element in an otherwise uncontrolled environment. we were very fortunate to have Brian and Mike leading our group. -Brian M.

If there is such a thing as a perfect vacation, I just got back from it. Not only was I able to summit the highest peak in Africa and see incredible wildlife on my Safari, but I also got to experience the real Moshi in a way that most travelers would die for. I expected Caleb to be a competent guide on the mountain, but he ended up going above and beyond for my entire experience in Tanzania. This was an experience I will never forget, and I will look to your company in the future for my planned expeditions. – Alex D.

Well, I must say that I couldn’t be happier with the Mt Bona trip! It was everything that I hoped it would be and was a great experience. Sheldon and Travis are great guides, really worked hard and were very pleasant to be around. Sheldon saw the good weather and took great advantage of it, as such I was pleased to have made it to the top in a relatively short number of days. Great first real mountain for me! -Doug S.

You guys couldn’t have put together a better group for our climbs of the Ecuador Volcanoes. I love the flexibility in scheduling and the ability to travel to small towns during rest days and visit local sites. I had an amazing time. Couldn’t have been better. Brian was patient and knowledgeable, I trusted him completely. It was a great initial high altitude mountaineering experience! – Elmy W.

The trip was awesome, Johnathan is an amazing guide. He’s very knowledgeable, professional, and personable – we loved climbing with him. He went out of his way in all aspects to accommodate us – before, during, and after the climb. The African guides/porters that we worked with were also impressive – what an incredible work ethic. Overall, an incredible experience! – Todd B

Just wanted to let you know that my brother Al and I had a great experience on our Backcountry Skiing trip with Eli and Adam. The skis arrived in time and the rest of the trip went off without a hitch. Eli and Adam pushed us out of our comfort zones, but then, that’s precisely what we were looking for. They were both extremely safety conscious for the entire time. I also want to thank you for your responsiveness to Suzy in setting the trip up and answering all of our questions and accommodating our equipment delay. Spectacular scenery, great guides, friendly support staff, good snow, fine weather, all combined for a very memorable experience. I will highly recommend AMG whenever I get the opportunity. You guys ROCK (and ICE)! -Tim Deger

I was on the Veendam cruise excursion in Skagway last week with Liam, Chris, Jake and Aaron—I think those are the names! It was awesome! I was scared outta my mind when I rappelled, but those guys totally knew what they were doing. They made it fun with their tour stories and personalities, but got serious enough for me to trust them when it counted. Very professional, beautiful views, excellent experience and I would totally recommend yall to anyone I know who cruises Alaska! -Lisa H.

Not only was it an amazing adventure, but I felt that the whole MGI staff was truly looking out for our health and welfare. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was successful in reaching Uhuru Peak. – Barbara M.

We are back home for a month now and we still talk about our trip in Alaska every day. We enjoyed it so much out there! -Petra & Carl G.

Our MGI Kilmanjaro guide and the local staff were all top notch, they took care of our every need with a smile. Couldn’t have been better. I talked with other groups on the mountain with us. We had by far the best and most varied food of any group. Our cook was great, and summited with us as well. Couldn’t have seen more on the Safari, lots of varied animals up close and personal. – Lee V.

I never got a chance to say thanks before Kate and I left after our course. We had a great experience; Dave and Erin were excellent guides and companions. Apart from his rock solid mountaineering skills, Dave displays mature judgment and a natural ability to teach. Erin busted his ass cooking in camp and sweeping on climbs. Both of them represented AMG well. Brian and I left soon after the course for another climbing trip. Your course enabled us to safety accomplish all of our goals. – Bill M.

I am taking this opportunity to express how awesome my experience was on Kili. Jacob is a great guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, fun, and relaxed. He made me feel very comfortable with what we were doing each day. Jacob was also tuned into everyone’s needs in the group. I am very thankful that you have such talented staff. Thanks for a great experience. Hopefully this will not be the last. – Corrie M.

I am sure that you don’t remember me, but my name is Alexis M. and I came on the overnight glacier hike this summer with the Putney travel group from the east coast. Basically, you guys, and that trip totally changed my life. Sean, Cedar, Corey, and Christa all left the most lasting and amazing impression on me. I will never forget any of you and how you helped me to accomplish my goal and change my life. Thank you so much for everything! – Alexis

I had an excellent time on the High Peaks Traverse trip at the end of August. My guides (Austin and Dave) were great and I learned a ton over the week. I am definitely looking forward to coming back in June with friends, and now that they have seen the pictures they are disappointed they couldn’t come this year. Have a great winter!! – Diana W.

Just to let you know I had a great time on the 7 day primer! Jason and Rachel were the best! – Eric B.

Good afternoon,
Just wanted to let you know that we REALLY enjoyed our “rock climbing” excursion that we participated in back in June through Princess Cruise Lines (Sun Princess ship). Your employees are very professional, knowledgeable & friendly. In fact, we would like to know how we can figure out a way to come work for you guys! – Jeff & Tina B.

My husband John and I recently climbed in Skagway Alaska. Jay was our guide for the rock climbing and rappelling excursion. We had a terrific time on the tour and Jay was an excellent guide! We hope to one day travel with your company again. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. Our only regret was that my camera was lost in Skagway and with it all our photos from the day. Now our experiences are larger than life for sure! – Carolyn and John M

Hello Friends, Thanks for making this summer an outstanding one with a couple great adventures!! -Nancy H.

Thanks for your beginning mountaineering course the last week of July with Eli, Robbie, and Rachel. They were SO patient and compassionate with me. To be out there on the glacier was an amazing experience for me. I got a lot out of it, in ways I didn’t expect…. All 3 of them are exceptional people and I was lucky to have them be the ones who introduced me to this “sport” (though it seems more like a frame of mind…).
Thanks again. – Trish M.

Just dropping you a line to say thanks again for leading such and awesome trip. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime, and I’ll never forget it. You both did a great job making the trip enjoyable, exciting, and unforgettable. Thanks for introducing me to the world of ski mountaineering. -Jenny H.

Thank you again for a great trip. We’ve all been commenting on how much we learned. Appreciate your patience with our questions. – Keith

I just wanted to say……….AWESOME!!………… What you do for people kicks ass! Thanks for the incredible experience and memories. We’re getting our pictures developed this week… if something comes out good we’ll send you one for your office wall! If you’re down this way, definitely look us up. -Susan

Thank you for your patience with all of my questions. Your website seems thorough and I have spent some time reviewing credentials, etc. Very impressive; quite a depth of experience. I’m glad you were recommended! – Matt V.

My name’s Eric, and I spent 5 days this summer on the Matanuska Glacier with 4 of your climbing guides. Just wanted to say it rocked, and thanks to Billy, Daymond, and Bill for leading an awesome trip! – Eric L.

Hi Guys – I found the trip fantastic and greatly enjoyed the time we all spent together. You are all very lucky to be doing what you enjoy. Scott, Keith and I will keep plugging away at this amazing sport and hope to be able to see you guys again next year. – Paolo

I just thought I would let you know I went into the Kluane side of the St. Elias Range this past April with 3 other climbers, 2 of them trained by you (and your team). I was quite impressed with their winter mountaineering skills. Much higher than mine. They were smooth as silk setting up camp. Keep up the good work. – Phil A.

Can’t believe it took this long, but just wanted to thank you for a great trip on Aconcagua this winter! Brian was the best guide, (but you already know that) and Chris was a great climbing partner as well. I am definitely interested in doing future trips with Mountain Guides International. – Mary H.

We very much enjoyed your guide Scott’s guidance and knowledge of the trail! He was a wonderful addition to the trip. The whole trip back to Alaska was wonderful and we looked forward to doing the trip again in a couple of more years. -Ralph D.

Thanks for a great trip. You have allowed me to experience things that I never could have done on my own. It will be a lifetime memory. But it will not be my last mountain. When you have a good trip coming up let me know. I would like to come to Denali this season but I do not think Bev is ready for it this soon. Maybe next year. Your friends, BJ and Chris, could not have been better. Every decision they made was right on. It was an honor to travel with them and I would be more than pleased to go anywhere with them again. If there is anything that I can do for you here in North Carolina please let me know. -James

Sending a special thank you your way for the care and education of our son. He had a great time and, best for me within an hour of arriving home he told me the “secret” of making two mistakes. Or rather – making the second mistake. It was a lovely report! It was just what I was hoping he would learn. The other thing I noticed as I debriefed with Tamar, is how much he appreciated being with like minded people!!!!
I appreciate what you folks are doing and especially how you are doing it. Best wishes to each of you. – Gayle Y.

Hey guys… Rustyn M. here. I just wanted to let you know that I was chosen out of 80 at the RMI auditions for the new guide hires for 2001! You guys were my first step out of the gate, and I just wanted to say thanks for the push. Thanks again. – Rustyn
